About Vallejo Charter School
Located in east Vallejo on Tennessee is Vallejo Charter School, our dependent charter that focuses on Expeditionary Learning. This school serves students in grades TK through 8th where they create a tight community of learners where they are considered crew. Vallejo Charter School embraces diversity, inspires excellence and engagement in education and the arts, while encouraging the natural curiosity and critical thinking of all students and staff; challenging them to create transformative footprints in our world.
VCS synthesizes the Vallejo Unified School District’s expectations and initiatives with specialized arts programming and the acclaimed curriculum modules from EL Education, as well as a character model that sees your child as a valued individual who enhances the learning of those around them. EL Education frames student learning based upon three important elements–The 3 Dimensions of Student Achievement, which are: Mastery of Knowledge & Skills, Character and High Quality Work. Vallejo Charter also uses some of the same district-adopted curriculum in some areas, such as math, early reading instruction and science.
The founding families of Vallejo Charter School strongly believed the success of the school would be greatly impacted by parental involvement, so there are requirements for families throughout the year to support their students and the school as a whole through donations, volunteer hours and more. Students may enter Vallejo Charter at any grade, although there is often limited space with waiting lists. Please contact Danielle Brever with any questions dbrever@vcusd.org.
