Board Brief for July 24 Board Meeting
VALLEJO, Calif. - Here are a few highlights from the July 24 regular board meeting and the complete board packet.
Touro University and VCUSD Mobile Vaccination Clinics Report
Touro University presented about their partnership with the Touro Child and Adult Resource Education and Support Mobile Vaccination Program (CARES MVP) and VCUSD. This program aims to help underserved communities overcome barriers to vaccination by taking clinics directly to them. VCUSD partnered with them from 2021-24 to help vaccinate the community during the pandemic.
Inter-District Transfers
Dr. Edison Kelly, the director of student support services, presented a review on inter-district transfers to the board. The report outlined reasons for approving transfers, such as childcare needs, special health needs, sibling attendance, and employment. It also included data indicating that most transfer requests are for middle and high school students at key entry points. Napa Valley and Benicia Unified School Districts are the most commonly requested districts, with applications frequently driven by employment opportunities, specific educational programs, and sibling attendance.
