Vallejo City Unified School District Undergoes Summer Construction Projects Funded by Measure S
VALLEJO, Calif. - The summer months at Vallejo City Unified School District is bustling with construction crews diligently working at our schools. These projects are part of the district’s ongoing efforts to improve and modernize school facilities for better learning environments for our students.
Measure S, a $194 million bond approved by the City of Vallejo voters in November 2018, funds the acquisition, construction, renovations, furnishing, and equipping of school facilities.
Currently, three schools are in phase two of construction, following phase one in the summer of 2023, and four schools have entered phase one for the summer of 2024. The primary improvements include modernization, HVAC installation, accessibility improvements, and roofing upgrades to meet the needs of our student population.
Phase one schools include the following projects:

Phase one schools, which cost about $20 million, will undergo phase two in the summer of 2025, which will cost around $22 million.
“We are thrilled to see the progress being made across our district thanks to the support of our community and the approval of Measure S,” VCUSD Superintendent Rubén Aurelio said. “These construction projects are vital to providing our students and staff safe and modern learning environments.”
The district is committed to completing most of the construction by Monday, Aug. 19, the start of the school year.
The successful passage of Measure S in 2018 by the City of Vallejo voters underscores the community’s commitment to investing in the future of its children and the quality of education at Vallejo City Unified School District.
